New Student Enrollment Process

During Summer:

Please sign up through SignUpGeniushttps://www.signupgenius.com/go/70A0544AEA92EAAFA7-56591232-gmsenrollment 

  • If you are having issues with the SignUpGenius link, please reach out to Mrs. Noell, Counseling Coordinator, at 540-387-6322 or by email at gnoell@rcps.us.
    • Summer enrollment appointments will be held on various dates in July (available dates/times will be in SignUp Genius), but you must have an appointment.
    • Please pick up an enrollment packet and complete it prior to your appointment, or you can find the necessary documents here: https://www.rcps.us/parents-students/student-registration (do not complete the Kindergarten Info Form or the Pre-Kindergarten Education Info Form).

 

During school year:

Please reach out to Mrs. Pope, Counseling Secretary at 540-387-6322 or by email at spope@rcps.us to schedule an enrollment appointment.

 

Items required for enrollment: must be brought to enrollment appointment.

  • Original Birth Certificate (cannot be a copy)
  • Proof of Residency
    • Current lease with parent/guardian name on it
    • Copy of Mortgage Statement with parent/guardian name on it
    • Real Estate tax assessment with parent/guardian name on it
    • If you live with another Roanoke County resident and your name is not on the above documents, you will need to complete an additional residency form and have it notarized.
  • Immunization Records
    • 7th & 8th grade students must have proof of TDAP and Meningococcal vaccinations (required for enrollment)

Paperwork to be completed: Please plan to pick a packet up at GMS prior to enrollment appointment or forms can be found online and printed by parent/guardian.

  • Release of Information with previous school’s contact information.
  • Residency Validation documents (additional notarized document if living with another Roanoke County resident)
  • Student Enrollment Information form
  • Affirmation form
  • ANVER – Annual Verification of Enrollment forms - this MUST be completed before school starts in order to issue a student laptop and have all other necessary documentation updated in our system. You will receive an email with your ParentVue activation code when your child has been enrolled.

Other helpful documents:

  • Drivers License
    • Parents listed on birth certificate do not need to have custody paperwork (but one must be present at enrollment). Please bring a valid state ID (Drivers License) to enrollment appointment.
  • Custody paperwork
    • Both parents listed on birth certificate will be listed in our system. If there is a custody agreement, please provide that so that we can reflect any necessary information in our system (who can check student out of school, etc).
  • Most recent report card
  • Copy of most recent IEP or 504 Plan, if applicable
